The monument consists of many units and occupies a large area. There are lakes on both sides of the dome from the right and left,in addition to the trench that houses the museum and contains the collections of the "martyrs" and their exploits and heroisms,in addition to the paintings drawn for this purpose, so the visitor stands in amazement in front of this monument for what it bears It has a very human meaning.

The Martyr's Monument is located on 

🔸 Rusafa side of Baghdad. It was established in 1986, and the monument symbolizes the sacrifice of the martyr for the sake of his homeland and its principles.

It is one of the most 

🔸 architectural landmarks in Baghdad. It was designed by Iraqi architect Saman Asaad Kamal. The dome was designed by the Iraqi plastic artist Ismail Fattah al-Turk.

The genius of the design lies in the 

🔸 illusion of the monument, which is erected on an open, sprawling ground, as the car-passing around the monument sees that the two halves of the dome, which seem closed at the beginning of the street,begin to move away from one another as if a gate opens in front of it in preparation for the exit of something.

When the visitor enters the site of 

🔸 monument, he notices that this thing is the Iraqi flag, which rises to the top, embodying the ascent of the martyr's soul to heaven.

The monument consists of a circular platform with a diameter of 190 meters perched above a lower museum,.and bearing a dome of two apartments with a height of 40

The monument was executed by Mitsubishi, according to strict specifications set by Of Arup & Partners Consulting Engineering (which is famous for its design of the Sydney Opera House).
